From 1957 to 1961, the University of Wisconsin utilized a bold san-serif W as their primary logo. In 1962, the Badgers enclosed that W in a red circle of the same weight and used it for the rest of the decade before changing to a slab serif W in 1970. Fifty years later, the basketball team brought the circle W logo out of retirement to wear on the shorts of their alternate uniforms.
